About Charles
I am admitted in the state of Ohio and United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. I am also admitted in the District of Columbia.* My practice concentrates primarily on the field of legal ethics and consists of representing lawyers on ethics and disciplinary matters, bar applicants in admissions matters, non-lawyers in unauthorized practice of law (“UPL”) matters, and providing representation and expert witness services in legal malpractice actions. I also provide personal injury representation.
I have written hundreds of private advisory opinions for clients from solo practitioners to international law firms, I have defended hundreds of attorney grievances, and I have appeared as counsel on numerous occasions before Panels of the Board of Professional Conduct and the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness, as well as before the Supreme Court of Ohio.
I’ve been published by Columbus Bar Briefs, which is published by The Daily Reporter, I was a contributing author to Reflections on Life and the Law, published by the Columbus Bar Association, and I frequently teach CLE courses on legal ethics, professionalism, and substance abuse to various bar organizations and government agencies, including: The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA); The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College; The Ohio Attorney General’s Office; Ohio Lawyer’s Assistance Program (OLAP); The Supreme Court Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law; The Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association; The Stark County Academy of Trial Lawyers; Central Ohio Association for Justice; The Ohio Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys; Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers(APRL); and, continuing education sponsors such as Lorman, PESI, and NBI. I have also taught over 200 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) hours to attorneys and judges and I am available to teach private CLE courses to law firms and their invited guests.
I am member of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility, APRL, and the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations. I am also a member of the Ohio Association for Justice. I also currently serve as the Ethics Chair and am a Past-President of the Central Ohio Association for Justice.
